The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926, is the world-governing body of the sport of table tennis with 226 member Associations in the world.


The ITTF supervises the staging of World Championships annually, and several other world title events. Around 120 international tournaments are sanctioned by the ITTF yearly. Its main function is to govern and develop the sport for the benefit of over thirty million competitive players in all parts of the world.


Table Tennis is an Olympic and Paralympic sport and is in the programme of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as of all Multisport Games.

JOB TITLE: ITTF High Performance Manager


DEPARTMENT: ITTF High Performance

SERVICES: The ITTF wishes to retain the selected person, on a non-exclusive basis, to act as an independent consultant to provide to the ITTF the services described below.


LOCATION: The position will be home-based but it may require international travel. Applicants should be willing to work as required to perform the agreed duties with excellence.


REMUNERATIONThe ITTF High Performance Manager will be paid a remuneration, based on skillset, experience, and place of residency.

The Consultant undertakes to respect all fiscal and social legislation, particularly those in force in his/her country of residence. In particular, the ITTF will not pay any social charges, as the Consultant is acting in an independent capacity.

CONSULTANCY PERIOD: The ITTF High Performance Manager position is offered for one year, with an evaluation period of three months.


MANAGER: The ITTF High Performance Manager will report to the High Performance Elite Coach.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITY: The High Performance Manager will be responsible for the development, management, improvement and monitoring of various programs and projects within the High Performance Unit that aim at establishing a high performance platform within the international Table Tennis community in the pursue of the related strategic objectives set in the ITTF Strategic Plan.


The consultant will provide the following services as the High Performance Manager:

  • Work in close cooperation with the High Performance Unit Team, including external experts, in respect to the implementation of the High Performance Program, review its progress and report against Key Performance Indicators;
  • Assist in the development, management and organization of pathways, opportunities and initiatives targeting young promising players and their coaches to reach the World top level;
  • Carry out different technical, organisational and administrative tasks related to the High Performance Program and especially its onsite and online activities;
  • Follow and monitor the administration-based part of the activities related to the scholarships, training grants etc.;
  • Ensure adequate data collection takes place for all the activities and that it is maintained within databases;
  • Assist in the creation of the High Performance (yearly) Program and the related budget, monitor its implementation and manage the respective finances;
  • Work within a wider team to strengthen the culture of Table Tennis and of the ITTF High Performance Program worldwide;
  • Build and maintain relations with relevant stakeholders of the High Performance Program, for example, but not limited to International Institutions, Member Associations, Clubs, Coaches, Experts from other fields etc.;
  • Other duties as required by the HP Elite Coach.

Candidates for the position of ITTF High Performance Manager should demonstrate:


Essential Criteria

  • Relevant education and/or qualification in Sport Management/Administration or Physical Education;
  • Rich experience in event organisation and administration;
  • Good understanding of players’ development, especially of high performance concepts;
  • Very good command of written and spoken English;
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects;
  • High motivation and strong result orientation;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Proven ability to establish rapport with wide range of stakeholders;
  • Advanced understanding of basic office applications, including sound Microsoft Office skills.


Desirable Criteria

  • Five years’ experience working within National/International sport at highest level;*
  • Experience within the sport of Table Tennis especially in High Performance;
  • Experience within racket sports and in general with sports where specific skills are required;
  • Speaking and writing other languages either than English is considered a plus;

* The position is open also to former players of good international level, including players in transition to their post-athlete career, looking for internship and/or first employment. In such a case the above experience criteria will be relaxed.
